How I Started Working From Home
In the mid 80’s I was introduced to Network marketing and tried unsuccessfully to make an income from various MLM schemes. Some companies went out of business or changed their marketing plans to the detriment of their agents. Others were closed down due to their compensation systems being ruled to be pyramid marketing schemes.
After trying and failing with a number of different companies over a number of years I decided that MLM/Network Marketing was not for me.
In the mid 90’s I was diagnosed with angina and put all plans for working from home on the back burner, still thinking about it but not willing to take on anything that was going to cause me stress and thus affect my health.
Some years ago I attended an entrepeneurs boot camp in London organised by Andrew Reynolds and this I felt was aimed more towards offline rather than online marketing. However the start up costs were beyond my budget so I did not do anything with the information. I knew there had to be something better available somewhere. I am not critising Andrew as I know that others have been very successful by following his, and the other speakers, systems.
In August 2009, just before I went on holiday, I was contacted, by phone, by a salesman from an american company based in Los Angeles and persuaded to invest in their Affiliate marketing training system. He promised that I would have an income sufficient to cover ny credit card payment when it became due and like a gullable fool I believed him. They were to supply a website and weekly one on one phone calls with one of their trainers. The weekly training promised wasn’t weekly. Usually about every ten days, but was sometimes three or more weeks apart. I was advised by them to use Google adwords to promote my website but without sufficient instruction to make a success with adwords so after spending about £70 (120 USD)in 5 days I suspended my account.
In mid September 2008 I joined Michael Cheney’s Golden Thread Program and it was excellent in the value received, as I said when I left a testimonial for him he should have been charging at least double what he did charge. I learn’t a lot about the internet, how to set up websites, social marketing, etc etc from him. I can still access the members area to revise any of the training modules to refresh my knowledge.
In the meantime I received hundreds of emails for all the latest product launches all promising to be the last thing needed to make your fortune from the internet. 99% of these I turned down because I just couldn’t afford them. I still receive loads of these emails on a daily basis but ignore most of them.
Alex Jeffreys came along and after receiving at least ten emails about his coaching offer including one from Michael Cheney I decided to get involved and signed up. I found Alex’s training to be excellent. He goes about it in his own way and doesn’t assume that everyone knows loads already. His instruction gives the basics and then goes into more detail in the same four or more hour long webinar with a live question and answer session after the training.
I recently attended the training Webinars from David Walker and found them to be excellent. I have writen a long post about his first session and also posts about the remaining sessions which are published here on the blog.
To date 1st June 2010 I have written 3 ebooks which are available free of charge and all you have to do to get a copy of each is to sign up via the optin forms in the side bars of the blog. I am using these ebooks as products for giveaways and am steadily building my email list with them.

Dear Richard,
This is an familiar story of what most of us go through. I am a more recent student of Alex Jeffreys. It also looks like you have learned a thing or two about onsite SEO. This is one of the few blogs I have been to that has page rank.
Keep it up. The David Walker training looks good, too. Are you going to update your list of Alex Jeffreys students?
Hi Evan
I have not specifically tried to use SEO but I must be doing something right to get the page rank.
I will be posting more about David Walker’s training over the next few weeks on Mondays and Fridays so keep coming back to learn more. I currently have 9 more posts lined up which brings me up to the end of Module 3 in David’s free webinar sessions. Module 4 is tomorrow night 10th December and if you go to http://www.davidwalker.tv you can sign up for it.
My list of Alex Jeffreys students is from his first coaching session at the end of 2008. I do not have any details for other students so am unable to update fully.
