How I Started Working From Home

Blogs

In the mid 80’s I was introduced to Network marketing and tried unsuccessfully to make an income from various MLM schemes.  Some companies went out of business or changed their marketing plans to the detriment of their agents.  Others were closed down due to their compensation systems being ruled to be pyramid marketing schemes.

After trying and failing with a number of different companies over a number of years I decided that MLM/Network Marketing was not for me.

In the mid 90’s I was diagnosed with angina and put all plans for working from home on the back burner, still thinking about it but not willing to take on anything that was going to cause me stress and thus affect my health.

Four or five years ago I attended an entrepeneurs boot camp in London organised by Andrew Reynolds and this was more aimed at offline marketing.  However the start up costs were beyond my budget so I did not do anything with the information.  I knew there had to be something better available somewhere.  I am not critising Andrew as I know that others have been very successful by following his, and the other speakers, systems.

In August this year, just before I went on holiday, I was contacted, by phone, by a salesman from an american company based in Los Angeles and persuaded to invest in their Affiliate marketing training system. He promised that I would have an income sufficient to cover ny credit card payment when it became due and like a gullable fool I believed him.  They were to supply a website and weekly one on one phone calls with one of their trainers.  The website is at www.top3bestworkathomeproducts.com the weekly training isn’t. Usually about every ten days, but is sometimes nearly three weeks apart. I was advised to use Google adwords but not given sufficient instruction so after spending about £70 (120 USD)in ten days I suspended my account.

In mid September I joined Michael Cheney’s Golden Thread Program and it has been excellent in the value received, as I said when I left a testimonial for him he should have been charging at least double what he did charge.  I learn’t a lot about the internet, how to set up websites, social marketing, etc etc from him.

In the meantime I have received hundreds of emails for all the latest product launches all promising to be the last thing needed to make your fortune from the internet. 99% of these I turned down because I just couldn’t afford them.

Alex Jeffreys came along and after receiving at least ten emails about his coaching offer including one from Michael Cheney I decided to get involved and signed up.  Since then I have found Alex’s training to be excellent. He goes about it in his own way and doesn’t assume that everyone knows loads already.  His instruction gives the basics and then goes into more detail in the same four hour webinar and live question and answer session.

I will update this as time goes on but that’s it for now.

Richard

    Hi Richard

Thanks for popping by and leaving a comment.

I can relate to what you are saying in your post, if the bootcamp was the first one that Andrew did, I was supposed to go to that one but couldn’t make it.

It fell at the same time as a family holiday, but a few weeks later he emailed me offering to sell me the recording, (as he does with all his products), so I bought them.

Don’t know where they are now though, in a box in the attic somewhere I think.

Anyway enough rambling, I have put a link to you on my students blogroll so I can pop back and see how you are doing.

    All the best

    Hi Richard!

I loved your post, intersting because I just wrote a post right before I read this about “storytelling”. I think that if you can tap in to another human being’s emotions by talking about your own in a sense, you’re going to go places. I really mean it. So dont get caught up in the hype, just be true to yourself and others and the rest will follow! Great job!! I have added you to my blogroll by the way, and thanks for the productive critisism :) Exactly what we need in this biz !!!

Best of luck and Merry Xmas!!!

    Chelsea

    Hi Richard,

I got your comment on my blog and have added you to my blogroll. I, too, have tried numerous products in the IM marketplace, but think Alex may just be the ticket.
